WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Soccer program is pleased to announce the signing of Corbin High School duo Amerah Dixon and Whitney Baker.
Amerah, a 5’9 forward from Corbin, KY attends Corbin High School where she will graduate in May and is the daughter of Randy and Lorie Dixon. While at CHS, Amerah was named All-State and finished fourth in the state in scoring.
"Amerah is a student athlete that will add a lot to our roster. Her athleticism and technical ability will help add some great depth to our line-up. We are very fortunate to have a player of Amerah's ability so close to UC and we are delighted to have her become a Patriot. We expect great things from Amerah both on and off the field and we feel that she will be a great representation of our program," stated Patriot Head Women's Soccer Coach Joe Townsend.
Teammate Whitney Baker is the daughter of Marvin Baker and Renee Hooker and hails from Corbin, KY. She will also graduate as a Redhound in May from Corbin High School where she played forward. In her high school career, Whitney scored a total of 58 goals and had 29 assists out of 79 games.
“I am excited to be able to continue to play soccer at the college level especially one so close to home like the University of the Cumberlands,” Baker said about her recent signing with the Patriots.
Head Coach Joe Townsend had this to say about Baker, “Whitney is another athlete that we are very fortunate to have. She is a strong competitor who will add to our attacking options this coming season. Whitney has been a part of a strong Corbin team and will come to UC with the expectation of making an impact from the start. Both on and off the field Whitney fits the kind of player we are looking for here at UC and we look forward to having her as a Patriot.”
