Cumberlands Daniel Joins 1,000 Point Club

University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men’s Basketball player Matt Daniel (Morehead, KY) surpassed the 1,000th point of his career, scoring 16 points on Saturday, January 14th against Shawnee State University in the O. Wayne Rollins Center in Williamsburg.

This season, Daniel has scored 315 points, averaging 15.8 points per game as well as pulling down 78 rebounds, 23 steals, and 46 assists as of Saturday’s game against UVA-Wise.

Matt, a senior at Cumberlands, has accumulated 1,081 points, 244 rebounds, 216 assists, 78 steals, and 15 blocks for his career. Those 16 points on Saturday helped Daniel become the 35th men’s basketball player to reach the 1,000th career point milestone at Cumberlands.

Head Patriot Men’s Basketball Coach Don Butcher said, “Matt Daniel has been a building block for our program for the last 5 years. He has put in a lot of hard work and effort in his time here at UC and is very deserving of this accomplishment.”

The Patriots (13-8, 5-5 MSC) will be back in action on February 4th, 2012 as they continue Mid-South Conference play at Lindsey Wilson College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
