The University of the Cumberlands (UC) baseball team is pleased to announce the signing of Ryan DaSilva and Josh Perez for the 2012 baseball season.

Ryan DaSilva (Live Oaks, FL) is an outfielder from Suwannee High School. During his high school career DaSilva helped the team win 20 games and earn two trips to the Sweet 16 his junior and senior year. In 2011 DaSilva hit .465 with 8 homeruns, 11 doubles, 41 hits, and 35 RBI. He received MVP honors twice and the Outstanding Hitter award.

“Ryan can really swing the bat,” said UC Head Baseball Coach Brad Shelton. “He has good size and bat speed and he runs well and has a good arm. He is a polished player coming in and as he gets stronger, I believe he could develop into one of the top hitters in our league.”

Josh Perez (Miami, FL) was a graduate of John A. Ferguson High School. As a letterman owner for back to back district championships in baseball, he hit .307 with 4 homeruns and 35 RBI as a senior.

“Josh is an athletic first baseman who runs well and has some power,” said Shelton. “He can play first or outfield. He's played excellent competition in Miami and I believe he has a big upside.”
