Drillers making switch to Continental Indoor Football League

After a successful stint in the Ultimate Indoor Football League, Rick Kranz and his Eastern Kentucky Drillers will be jumping ship to the Continental Indoor Football League. They will now be known as the Kentucky Drillers.

The owner and head coach says the relationship is one that makes sense for his football team.

"The decision smart-wise is we're going to be playing a lot better teams. They're going to be a lot closer. We're going to be playing only five home games and five away, so our season is cut down a little bit. We'll be playing when it's the right time. We'll be playing in February and no longer than May 18 so that means we won't be going into nice, nice weather to where people won't want to go outside and do things rather than go to a Drillers game" says Drillers owner and head coach Rick Kranz.

Kranz says the upgrade in competition in the C.I.F.L. will better serve his team in the long run.

"iT kind of makes us look bad when we're not bringing in any credible opponents so this year going into the C.I.F.L. will be us that "it" of competitive football each week in and out. It's going to be very, very tough to beat some of the teams that we'll be playing against so, for that, credibility-wise, it's going to give us a whole new direction to the team."

With the Drillers move to the C.I.F.L. becoming official, Kranz is not only forward to a new season, but a completely new direction for his football team.
