Dupree honorable mention D-Lineman of the Week by CFPA

LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky junior defensive end Alvin “Bud” Dupree has been named Honorable Mention Defensive Lineman of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards for his career game against Mississippi State last week, it was announced Monday.

Dupree, who was returning for the first time after sitting out the last game and a half due to injury, recorded a career-high 13 tackles in the game, including one sack and two tackles for loss. The junior’s 13 tackles is the most by a Kentucky defensive lineman according to game-by-game records dating back to the 1993 season.

Dupree, who was named Midseason All-Southeastern Conference by Phil Steele College Football, is having a strong season for Kentucky leading the team with 6.5 tackles for loss, while he is second on the team with 4.5 sacks. The native of Irwinton, Ga., is second in total tackles this season with 41, adding a forced fumble, pass breakup and two quarterback hurries. Before missing the Alabama game due to injury, Dupree had started 20 consecutive games for the Wildcats. Dupree ranks fifth in the SEC and 29th nationally in sacks per game. Dupree also ranks 15th in the SEC with 6.8 tackles per game.

The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday when it plays host to non-conference foe Alabama State at 7:30 p.m. ET at Commonwealth Stadium.
