BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the fifth time this season, Eastern Kentucky University junior Glenn Cosey was named as the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week on Monday, the league announced from its Brentwood, Tenn., headquarters.
It marks the third straight week a Colonel has earned the award. Sophomore Corey Walden was named co-newcomer of the week each of the past two weeks.
If you didn’t know it, it was hard to tell that Cosey had missed six straight games with an injury. In his first game back he hit six three-pointers, scored 20 points, handed out four assists, grabbed three rebounds, had two steals and did not turn the ball over in 33 minutes against Tennessee-Martin.
Two days later, Cosey went 4-for-7 from three-point range, 9-for-10 from the free throw line, scored 21 points, had four assists, three rebounds and two steals in a victory at Southeast Missouri.
In both games combined he averaged 20.5 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals. He shot 39 percent from the field, including 48 percent from three-point range.
The Colonels host Crowley’s Ridge College on Tuesday at 7 p.m., and travel to face rival Morehead State on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
