EKU’s Tarius Johnson named OVC Player of the Week by College Sports Madness

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University junior Tarius Johnson was recently named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week by CollegeSportsMadness.com.

Johnson helped lead the Colonels to victories in games against Murray State and Morehead State.

The Jackson, Tenn., native was a key player in EKU’s 12-point win at Murray State, only the 20th OVC loss ever for the Racers at the CFSB Center. He scored an EKU career-best 17 points, on 8-of-11 shooting, and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds. He out-rebounded OVC leader Ed Daniel by one.

Johnson finished with 11 points, a team-high seven rebounds, three assists and a steal in a 59-52 win over rival Morehead State.

In the two games, Johnson averaged 14 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. He shot 58 percent from the field.

The Colonels will take to the road this week for two OVC East Division games starting at Belmont on Thursday. Tip-off in Nashville is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
