MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State baseball team visits Ohio Valley Conference opponent Eastern Illinois for a three-game series this weekend at Coaches Stadium in Charleston, Ill.
Right-handed freshman Aaron Goe will pitch game one Friday at 4 p.m. ET, sophomore lefty Noah Smallwood toes the rubber in Saturday's 2 p.m. contest and freshman right-hander Blake Smith takes the hill in Sunday's 2 p.m. finale.
The Eagles are coming off a midweek road victory over Conference USA foe Marshall 7-2. MSU swept the home-and-home series between the two clubs and is now 3-0 this season versus programs in West Virginia. Redshirt freshman outfielder Duran Elmore launched his third home run of the season, a two-run dinger, to lead the Eagles past the Thundering Herd.
Senior third baseman Andrew Deeds recorded a pair of hits against Marshall on Tuesday. He entered the week ranked second nationally in base knocks and is just 20 shy of tying the program record. Former Eagle Drew Lee holds the record for most hits in a season with 86.
EIU ranks last in nearly every offensive category, but the Panthers lead the OVC in ERA (3.11).
