Eagles to face Tennessee on national television

MOREHEAD, Ky. - The Morehead State men's basketball game at Tennessee on Dec. 23 will be televised live by ESPNU. Tip-off from Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville is set for 7 p.m. ET.

"We're excited about this opportunity on ESPNU," Head Coach Sean Woods said. "National-television appearances are great exposure for our program, athletic department and university."

The contest is one of 31 on Morehead State's regular-season schedule. The date against the Southeastern Conference Volunteers is also one of 10 against postseason teams from a year ago.

Once again in 2013-14, the Ohio Valley Conference will have a series of games on the ESPN Family of Networks. Those national telecasts are expected to be announced at some point in September.

Morehead State's last national TV appearance was an ESPNU tilt at Tennessee State on Feb. 28, 2013. The Eagles shot 62 percent that night en route to a thrilling 101-100 league victory.

ESPNU is a 24-hour college sports television network, which launched in 2005. It airs more than 650 live events each year and is available nationwide in approximately 73 million households.

"Millions of people will have the chance to watch two quality college basketball programs on Dec. 23," Woods added. "It should be a great night for our families, friends, recruits, alumni and fans."

Morehead State opens exhibition play at Johnson Arena on Nov. 2 against St. Catharine (Ky.). The Eagles then begin regular-season action at home on Nov. 9 versus Mid-Continent (Ky).
