MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State football players Zach Lewis, Donte Sawyer, Joey Clegg, Rainer Duzan, Dexter Geohagen, Zachary Senvisky, Eric Matteson and Quentin Brooks have all been selected to Preseason All-Pioneer Football League teams by College Sports Madness.
Lewis, Sawyer, Clegg, Duzan, Geohagen and Senvisky have been recognized as part of the first team, while Matteson is a second-team choice and Brooks is a third-team pick.
Lewis, a native of Manchester, Ky., set Morehead State records for completions (324), attempts (513) and passing yards (3,585) in 2011. He also shattered four PFL standards during the year.
Sawyer, who hails from Acworth, Ga., finished the 2011 campaign with 60 catches for 904 yards and a school-record 12 touchdowns. He also owns MSU’s career record for TD receptions (16).
Clegg, a native of Westerville, Ohio, blocked for a unit that led all Football Championship Subdivision schools in first downs (25.2), while ranking second in total offense (478.9) and passing yards (358.2) per game.
Duzan, a product of Dublin, Ohio, led all kickers in the conference with 85 points in 2011. He knocked down 12-of-17 field-goal attempts and 49-of-51 extra-point tries.
Geohagen, who hails from Far Rockaway, N.Y., tallied 44 tackles a season ago. He also led the Eagles with 14 passes defended, 10 pass break-ups and four interceptions.
Senvisky, a native of Union, Ky., recorded 21 tackles and picked off three passes last year.
Matteson, a product of Saline, Mich., joined Clegg on the offensive line to help Morehead State establish eight team school records and nine individual institution standards.
Brooks, a native of Bardstown, Ky., paced the Eagles with 17 punt returns for 116 yards.
Morehead State begins regular-season action on Thursday, Aug. 30, when Southern Virginia visits Jayne Stadium at 7 p.m. ET. It will be the first of six home games for the Eagles in 2012.
