ROCK HILL, SC -- Senior Eric Kennedy added another honor to his resume for the Lincoln Memorial University men's golf team, as he was named to the All-South Atlantic Conference Second Team. This announcement came from the SAC office on Friday morning.
Kennedy has been the leader for the Railsplitters this season, anchoring a squad that opened the year with an unprecedented ten consecutive top-5 finishes that included two wins, two second-place finishes and two third-place honors.
With a 72.79 scoring average, Kennedy ended the regular season at ninth in the South Atlantic Conference. This season, Kennedy has nabbed top-5 finishes in five tournaments, including medalist honors at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate and the Outback Steakhouse Intercollegiate.
At the Richard Rendleman Invitational, Eric posted a 66 in the second round to tie the lowest round in the conference this season. That score was only posted four other times, one of those rounds coming from teammate, Jamie Chapman.
His most recent appearance on the leaderboard came at the Pinehurst Challenge, where he nabbed a tie for second place after rounds of 73 and 76 to finish five over for the tourney.
The SAC awards were headlined by Carson-Newman's Liam Ashby, who was named the SAC Men's Golf Player of the Year.
Kennedy and the Railsplitters will head to Conover, North Carolina for the South Atlantic Conference Championship beginning on April 15th. The championship is slated for 54 holes at Rock Barn Golf & Spa.
