Fairview product to play golf at UPIKE

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – A senior at Fairview High School has signed to continue her education and play golf at the University of Pikeville.

Laken McKinney, daughter of Melony and Raymond McKinney, currently attends Fairview High School.

She has played three competitive seasons for Fairview High School; she recorded the lowest average and most birdies for the year’s season and was the first girl from Fairview to ever go to the KHSAA State Championship. For her senior season her 18-hole average was a 90.

She was voted Co-Player of the Year Region 11 by the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association. In Region 11 Laken was a top 10 player. She participated in the EKJGA and made back-to-back KHSAA State Championship and All “A” State Championship appearances.

McKinney has a 3.98 GPA ranking her fifth of 80 in her class as co-salutatorian. Some other school activities she is involved in are: STLP, Leo Club, FBLA, yearbook staff editor for four years, National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society and the Quill and Scroll Honor Society.

In her spare time she enjoys going hunting and fishing with her dad and shopping with her mom.
