CLEVELAND, Ga. - Union used a big-first half run to propel itself to a 65-45 Appalachian Athletic Conference victory over host Truett-McConnell (Ga.) on Saturday.
The win ups Union's record to 13-6 overall and 9-2 in the AAC ,while Truett-McConnell is now 7-8 overall and 5-6 in league play.
Down 16-12 with 8:57 left in the first period, the Bulldogs embarked on a 25-5 rally in seizing a 37-21 advantage with 1:28 on the clock. Amber Taylor drained a pair of 3-pointers as she scored eight points during the rally, while Marah Rice and Lydia Nash each chipped in four points apiece.
Union took a 37-24 lead into the half.
The Bulldogs continued to roll in the second half, building their largest lead of the game at 48-26 when Reagan King nailed a 3-pointer with 12:36 remaining. The margin hovered around 20 points for the rest of the game as Union posted the 65-45 decision.
Taylor led Union with 16 points, while Nash added 12 and Macy Clontz chipped in 10. Taylor has had a game-high five steals to go with her three rebounds and three assists.
For Truett-McConnell, Rhandee Haskett netted 16 points with Krista Dixon knocking 14.
