PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The University of Pikeville football team has kicked off spring practice and something special in store for its first intersquad scrimmage game on Saturday.
The Bears and Eastern Kentucky University will each hold scrimmages on Saturday, March 31 at Hazard High School. The Colonels will hold theirs at 2 p.m. while the Bears will take the field at 4:30.
“We’re very excited about this,” said UPIKE Offensive Coordinator Allen Holland Jr., who was a standout quarterback at Eastern Kentucky. “We have several early-season road games and need to get used to the feel of playing away from home.
“This is also a great opportunity for the people of Hazard and Perry County to come out and see two quality football programs and to see what it takes to play at the collegiate level. We look forward to seeing our fans on Saturday.”
The Bears are holding their spring practices from 7-9 p.m. at the W.C. Hambley Athletics Complex. The next one will be on Friday, March 30.
Dates in April will be 2-5, 10-13 and the 17th.
The Bears will also hold a practice on Saturday, April 14 at Shelby Valley High School beginning at 10 a.m.
The spring game will be Wednesday, April 18 at the W.C. Hambley Athletics Complex, and will kick off at 6:30 p.m.
