Former Colonel Patrick Ford signs NFL free agent deal with New York Jets

RICHMOND, Ky. – Former Eastern Kentucky University football player Patrick Ford has signed an NFL free agent deal with the New York Jets. Ford was a senior for the EKU football team last fall.

Ford was a three-year starter on the EKU offensive line, serving as both a guard and tackle in his time with the Colonels. The native of Richmond, Ky., spent the majority of the 2011 and 2012 seasons at left tackle before suffering a season-ending injury at UT Martin on Sept. 29, 2012. Ford twice earned All-OVC honors including first team accolades following his junior campaign in 2011.

Four other former Eastern Kentucky football players are currently listed on NFL rosters – offensive lineman Aaron Adams (Cleveland Browns), defensive back Yeremiah Bell (Arizona Cardinals), wide receiver Tyrone Goard (Cincinnati Bengals) and offensive lineman Derek Hardman (Detroit Lions).

EKU kicks off the 2013 schedule with a Thursday night home opener against Robert Morris on Aug. 29.
