LOUISVILLE, KY (WKYT) - Former Kentucky quarterback Rick Norton is dead at the age of 69. Norton was a first-team All-American at UK and then a first round draft pick in 1966. Norton came out Flaget High School in Louisville and his coach, Paulie Miller, called him the best passer in the United States. Norton played under Charlie Bradshaw at Kentucky and as a junior he engineered the Wildcats' stunning upset of top-ranked Ole Miss in Jackson. As a senior, Norton was a co-captain and led Kentucky to a 6-4 record.
When it came to the pro football draft, he chose the AFL's Miami Dolphins over the NFL's Cleveland Browns. Norton played four seasons with the Dolphins and one game with Green Bay in 1970 and retired.
John Norton said his brother battled heart disease and died of natural causes in louisville.
