Golden Eagles trying to fill voids

PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - The Johnson Central Golden Eagles open their season this Friday against Hayesville, North Carolina. Jim Matney's team played a scrimmage game last week trying to get some young guys prepared for the upcoming season, and he says in order to improve on last year's 9-3 record, the key is to get those kids some playing time and experience as well as staying healthy.

"You know, in the past we've been known for a strong line and a strong running game. We continue to work on our passing game. I think it's just a matter of breaking in a new tailback. We're moving a few people around. It's just a matter of getting experience and staying healthy too," says Matney.
