Hammond gets support from the Volunteer state

MOUNT VERNON Ky. (WYMT) - With their upset win over top-seeded Baylor in the Sweet 16, Louisville will now play Tennessee tonight in the Elite 8.

Former Rockcastle County star Sara Hammond played a big part in Sunday's upset. Following the game, her high school coach, Chrysti Noble, received multiple text messages about Hammond's performance, including one from someone in the volunteer state sending their congratulations.

"In fact, my coach from Tennessee, my high school coach. He called me last night and said, 'I wanted to tell you, said right now. Tell Sara we watched every bit of the game. And that no matter who wins, that we are going to be winners anyway. Because she is playing Louisville and we know her good'", sand Noble.

"Because had gone to camp with them, and said that, we are Tennessee, so if they win, than we are going to be good. But said , he had taken Louisville winning. So I thought that was pretty nice of him for calling. I said my phone got lit up after they won. About ten text from everybody talking about her so."

Sara Hammond and the Louisville Cardinals will tip off with Tennessee in the Elite 8 tonight at 9:00pm with coverage on the game on ESPN.
