BELFRY, Ky. (WYMT) - The high school football season officially kicks off tomorrow, which means later tonight we will release our initial Alice Lloyd College mountain top ten.

One team that could potentially find themselves on our list is the Belfry Pirates. Now Belfry doesn't open their season until next week, and that's just fine with head coach Philip Haywood, who says his team is not ready to play right now.

"We're better. And I mentioned previously that I kind of tell our kids, 'I'm glad we're not playing tonight. We're not ready to play anybody.' But we're better than we were a week ago or better than we were the day before. And that's our goal, to get a little better each day. A lot of people are saying, 'You've got this, this, and this.' What I realize, and what our team realizes, is we lost some pretty good players, and we graduated a lot more people than a lot of people realize. We do have some young players coming up but it's going to take us a little while," says Haywood.
