High School Basketball Preview: Piarist Lady Knights

MARTIN Ky. (WYMT) - Our final team in our DQ Grill and Chill countdown to tip off series. The Piarist Lady Knights.

The Lady Knights have never won a district game nor a winning season, but this year they feel they can get it done.

"Well, the expectations for this season are definitely a whole lot higher than they were last season, considering our starting point guard was out with an ACL injury"said head coach Kevin Tackett. "We head really two players to do the majority of the scoring, so this year, I think we're going to surprise a lot of people."

"Expectations are high. We want to win more games. We're hoping to shock a lot of teams this year and hopefully advance to the second round of the tournament this year instead of losing in the first round like we always have in the past", said senior guard Kelli Akers.

"We've never had a winning season and I think this year we have the potential to be the best team we've had at Piarist so far and we have the potential to make it to district and beat a lot of county teams", said junior forward Cathryn Calhoun.

"I expect for us to work together and put more heart and get more confidence together and I want our team to have a great season and for us all to definitely make an impact on how people view us and our sports", said 8th grade forward Taylor Eckle.
