High School Basketball Preview: Lawrence Co. Lady Bulldogs

LOUISA KY. (WYMT) - As we continue with our DQ Grill and Chill countdown to tip off series . we take a deeper look at the Lawrence County Lady Bulldogs.

The Lady Bulldogs are coming off of their best season in program history after finishing the year with a 20-11 record. They return one of the better players in the region in Taylor Porter, but they will look to get out of one of toughest districts, the 57th.

"We strive to be competitive. Hopefully we will be competitive", said head coach Roger Harless. "Of course, we are in one of the toughest districts in the state. You know, you got, Magoffin County. You got Sheldon Clark, they are always right there. Of course, Paintsville, runner up in the region last year. Of course, Magoffin Co. goes to the state tournament. And you've got Johnson Central, so we are thrown in the mix there."

"We are not that deep off the bench, and I think I'd like to see more people step up and fill that position", said senior forward Kara Kirk.

"We have a lot of guard. Everyone can handle the ball", said senior guard Taylor Porter. So, we don't have a lot of trouble of getting out and pushing it. So, our main priority is to push the ball and get lay-ups this year."
