High School Basketball Preview: Pike Central Hawks

Updated: Tue 12:48 AM, Dec 04, 2012

(PIKEVILLE) Ky. (WYMT) - Next up in our DQ Grill and Chill countdown to tip off series are the Pike County Central Hawks.

The Hawks are a young team once again heading in to the season, but are deep at the guard position. With sophomore Ethan Blackburn in the middle, they have size to battle within a tough 15th region. After falling to Phelps in the first round of district, the Hawks are looking to make a run in region.

"I've noticed a different kind of intensity in our practices, and some of the things that we have done. And hopefully that will make us better for this year and hungrier", said head coach Kelly Carwile.

"Well we just have to work hard and do it game by game, day by day, and see where it takes us, you know", said forward Blake Clark.

"To win every game. I want to win region, district. I want to make it to Rupp", said sophomore forward Ethan Blackburn.

"We have to work hard. We have to treat every game the same", said junior guard Gaige Ray.

"It really helps as motivation because its not good to get beat out in the first round. But, it gives motivation to come back with hunger every game", said junior forward Alex Holbrook.
