BETSY LAYNE, Ky. (WYMT) - We now look at the Betsy Layne Ladycats in our next DQ Grill & Chill Countdown to Tip-off preview.
The Ladycats will be adjusting to a new head coach this season. Christina Crase takes over after the departure by Devon Akers, but several key pieces return for this team to make a run, and that is exactly what they're aiming for.
"It's been a smooth transition so far. The girls have really accepted me coming in, and a new coaching staff coming in. They're working really, really hard," says Crase, a longtime assistant with the program. "We have some common goals. We definitely want to win another championship, and fight for a 15th Region championship. So it's been an easy transition so far, just trying to keep things going, keep the tradition going."

"Our real goal this year is, we want to win district and all that again, but we want to do something in the region and go farther than what we usually do. We just want to work hard and make a name for ourselves and the team that we have," says junior Kelsi Tackett.
"I think that we have really good defense and we're really quick," says junior center Bailey Recznik. "We're experienced, and we've had the same team for the past two years so we all know how to play with each other."
"Come in to practice every day, work hard, don't give up if you think you're going to give up. Just push as hard as you can," says Paige Watkins, a senior.
"Coach Crase helps us keep a great mindset. She's very motivational. She's hard working," says T.J. Tackett. "We never quit. It has to be perfect or it's not done."
