BARBOURVILLE Ky. (WYMT)- As we continue on with our DQ Grill and Chill countdown to tip off series, we turn our attention to the Knox Central Lady Panthers.
The Lady Panthers finished last season with a 18-12 record and won their second straight district title. This year there will look for a 3-peat, but more importantly, they are looking to send a message to the rest of the 13th region to show they are a serious contender.
"The biggest thing we want to do, is we want to get in the gym as a team", said head coach Darren Mills. "We are just going to go to work every day. We have won the district two years in a row, and we hope to 3-peat this year. And I feel we have a solid group of kids that can do that."
"I think we just need to work hard, push ourselves. We have a lot of young talent that is helping us get to where we need to be. I think they give us a deeper bench, which help us a lot", said senior Jenna Mills.
"Well, of course, we want to win the district. We want to advance in the region, further than we did last year. Really we just want to make a name for ourselves. Like, we don't get a lot of respect, and we really want to establish that respect", said senior Cassi Shippy.
