BARBOURVILLE Ky. (WYMT) - We continue with our DQ Grill and Chill countdown to tip off series with a look at the Knox Central Panthers.
The Panthers finished last season with a 24-8 record but lose three seniors heading in to 2012 who contributed a lot to the team last year. The Panthers return experience in seniors Jacob Wilburn and Tobie Merida which should help with some of the younger talent on the team.
"Any time that you can continue to build on what you've done, its helpful not to come in and start from scratch. At the same time, we realize that it is a different year", said head coach Brian Evans. "Guys will have different roles. How they learn, how quickly they progress, and kind of grow in to the roles will determine how good we are at the end."
"I think we a re definitely balanced. We have a lot of kind that can do a lot of things. And we have a lot of bench players that can come off and do a lot of good things", said senior guard Jacob Wilburn.
"One of the really big things that we expect to do this year is definitely win another region. It's been 42 years and I think its time for Central to go back to Rupp", said senior Tobie Merida.
