BEATTYVILLE Ky. (WYMT) - The next team up in our DQ Grill and Chill countdown to tip off series, the Lee County Lady Kats.
The Lady Kats finished the year with a loss in the first round of the 56th district to Owsley County. Looking back, the Lady Kats haven't gotten out of the first round of the district since the 1997-98 season, and that is something they are striving for.
"I do think the motivation is there. The desire and the intensity that needs to come every day during practice and those things, are the things we need to improve on to reach those goals", said head coach Matt Watterson.
"I really want to make it past the first round of districts, because that hasn't happened in a long time for us", said junior guard Savanna Noe. "And, I just want to go as far as we can because I don't want to see the last game with our senior be the first round of districts."
"We definitely have to be stronger, because we are kind of a small team", said senior guard Sara Ross. "We have to be more aggressive and try to get rebounds. And be meaner, we have to be mean. We are not a very mean tea at all. We just have to get aggressive."
"It would mean the world. We haven't gotten past the first round of districts in a long time", said junior forward Sheyenne Johnson. "It would make us look a whole lot better than we seem."
