WHITESBURG Ky. (WYMT) - The Letcher Central Cougars are next up in our DQ Grill and Chill countdown to tip off series.
The Cougars finished the year with a 19-14 record, however fell to the Powell County Pirates in the first round of the region. This season, it's a whole new cast of characters and a different style of basketball.
"We have to get better and more mentally tough this year. I think that is one thing this team is looking to and will be fine with", said head coach Robert Hammonds.
"We have a long way to go, but, if we work hard we can go pretty far", said senior guard Cody Gregory.
"This year we are a different team. We are not so much a half court team, but a transition team, run and gun", said junior forward Sam Robinson.
"This year we can definitely run. We can get out and really spread the floor and everyone can make plays", said junior forward Max Hall. "Last year's team, they were a lot more physical, a lot stronger."
"Chemistry is really good. We all trust each other. We all now that every one of us can score", said junior forward Josh Owens.
"We are just going to have to work hard and play with each other, and have confidence in each other", said junior forward Dylan Kincer.
