INEZ Ky. (WYMT) - As we continue our DQ Grill and Chill countdown to tip off coverage, we take a look at the Sheldon Clark Cardinals.
Frankie Smith takes over at the helm for Sheldon Clark and he says he wants his players to be proud to be a member of the program, and the process begins with this group.
"The biggest thing we're trying to do with this team right now is to change the culture", said Smith. "We need to have guys to where they are very proud to be a Sheldon Clark Cardinal basketball player, but it needs to start with this group of guys so that we can build a program. We don't just want to have a good team or just a good season. We want to have a good program and that's what my vision is for Sheldon Clark."
"We're unselfish. There's nobody on the team who's just looking out for themselves", said senior forward Chase Kirk. "We've just always been that way since we first started practice and it's just been a great atmosphere, all in all."
"Our strengths is probably our shooting abilities. Everyone on the floor can step out and hit the three -- our starters", said sophomore guard Chase Parsley. "We're all fast. We can all run the ball. We're not very tall. Our tallest player is probably our senior, Chase. He's 6'4", 6'3". But, we've all just got to box out and move the ball."
"We're young but most of our players are coming back that played last year, so we're kind of experienced a little bit and used to playing big games and stuff", said 8th grader Dylan James.
