Horn fired at South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A person familiar with the decision says South Carolina has fired men's basketball coach Darrin Horn after the Gamecocks' disappointing season in the Southeastern Conference.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition on anonymity because no public announcement has been made. South Carolina athletic director Eric Hyman has scheduled a 1:30 p.m. news conference to discuss the men's basketball program.

The Gamecocks finished the season 10-21 and 2-14 in the SEC.

Horn, who just completed his fourth season as the Gamecocks coach, has three years remaining on his contract and his owed a total of $2.4 million.
