Jon Hood returns, wants to play

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Jon Hood says his right knee works. He says it's 100 percent. After sitting out last season after undergoing surgery he says he wants back on the court and he'll do it anyway he can.

Hood tore his ACL in July 2011 and had to watch from the sidelines as the Kentucky Wildcats won the NCAA Championship. The junior guard from Madisonville says it wasn't easy. "It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do as an athlete and anything I've ever had to do as a basketball player, by far."

The injury is now behind him and he says he'll do whatever it takes to play. "I really don't care. If I have to talk trash and be like DeAndre, whatever, I'll do it. If he wants me to stand out here at 3-point line, left corner and sling em when I get it, I'm more than happy to do that."

Hood sees big things for another young and talented team coach John Calipari is puting on the court. "We had a pickup game and somebody said it looked like the Atlanta Hawks playing. And if that's the case, I mean we had, that day we had a bunch of lobs. A bucnh of lobs, a bunch of three's a bunch of alley-oops, dunks."

Hood can see a silver lining in sitting out last season because he feels he will come back better. "Hurting myself may have made me a better shooter as far as mechanics and stiff like that go. And it's more fun, it's more fun when you take a year off and when you come back and you're better than you were."
