WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - University of the Cumberlands’ (UC) Justin Jackson (Jacksonville, FL) is the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Baseball Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.
The Patriots had a 4-2 record on the week in large part because of Jackson’s hot hitting as he racked up 12 hits for a .522 batting average with 6 RBIs and 8 stolen bases. Justin was able to record a hit in every game including a trio of 3 hit games.
Jackson’s best game of the week came in a 12-0 win over Holy Cross (Ind.). He ended the game with three hits -- including two doubles -- three runs, three stolen bases and a pair of RBIs.
On the season, Jackson leads the MSC with 16 stolen bases and is third in runs (26) and doubles (9). He is currently hitting .315 with 29 hits and 12 walks.
Cumberlands 14-13 (3-3 MSC) returns to action today as they host Cincinnati Clermont at Doyle Buhl Stadium starting at 4:00 pm. Then the Patriots welcome Ohio St. Lima to town on Thursday, March 22nd, with game time set for 2:00 pm.
