Kenneth Faried Invited to NBA Slam Dunk Contest

DENVER -- Former Morehead State star and current Denver Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried has been selected to take part in the Sprite Slam Dunk competition during State Farm All-Star Saturday Night in Houston on Feb. 16.

Faried, 23, joins defending champion Jeremy Evans of the Utah Jazz and Eric Bledsoe of the Los Angeles Clippers on the Western Conference team. They will compete against Eastern Conference representatives Gerald Green of the Indiana Pacers, Terrence Ross of the Toronto Raptors and James White of the New York Knicks.

Faried will be the sixth Nuggets player to compete in an NBA Slam Dunk competition. The others are Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf (1993), Robert Pack (1994), Darvin Ham (1997), Chris Andersen (2004) and J.R. Smith (2009).

After being named to the 2011-12 NBA All-Rookie First Team last season, Faried has continued his strong play this season. He has started every game for Denver and is averaging 12.0 points and 9.7 rebounds.
