DENVER -- Former Morehead State star and current Denver Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried has been named to the roster of the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge at All-Star Weekend in Houston on Feb. 15th.
This season, Faried has averaged 11.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.04 steals in 46 games (all starts). He is tied for 12th in the NBA in rebounds per game, eighth in offensive rebounds per game (3.6) and 11th in field goal percentage (.547). He also ranks 15th in the NBA with 19 double-doubles.
“I definitely think he’s earned it," Nuggets Head Coach George Karl said. "His last 82 games, since last year and this year, I think he’s one of the top five players in that class. He’s also a guy that continues to improve and is a pivotal part of our success, so I’m glad he’s being rewarded and I hope he has a great weekend.”
Additionally, the sophomore forward was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for games ending Nov. 11, with averages of 16.8 points, 12.8 rebounds and 1.75 blocks while helping Denver to a 4-0 record for the week.
Faried becomes the ninth Nugget (Rose, McDyess, Fortson, B. Jackson, LaFrentz, Posey, Nene, Anthony) to be selected to play in the game.
