Knights spoil Senior Night, 3-1

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Kentucky Christian University came to Pikeville and spoiled Senior Night at the UPike Gym with a 3-1 win over the Bears.

The Knights, who have already won the regional championship in NCCAA Division II, came away with the bin by scores of 25-20, 25-18, 21-25, 25-13 to improve to 28-8 on the season.

Pikeville’s loss came in the final home match for its lone senior, Shelbi White. The graduate of Walton-Verona High School in northern Kentucky, who plays Libero, posted 18 digs in the contest. She entered the night fourth in the league and tied for 20th nationally with an average of 4.7 digs per game.

She now has 1,765 digs in her career, the most in school history.

Offensively, the Bears were paced by sophomore Paige Thacker. The Belfry native had 14 kills and two service aces in the match.

Junior Brittany Hodge followed with eight kills, and junior Brooke Parrott contributed with 28 assists.

Pikeville will close out the regular season on Wednesday when it travels to Mountain State University for a 6:30 contest, and will begin postseason play in the Mid-South Conference tournament on Friday at the Frankfort Civic Center.
