Louisville, Kentucky - Mid-South Conference officials announced on Monday that UVa-Wise sophomore first baseman Kristina Romualdo had been named Mid-South Player of the Week for the week of February 20th-26th.
The honor is the first of Romualdo’s career and is the first award handed out by the league office the season.
For the week, the Virginia Beach, Virginia product hit .500 for the week while blasting a home run in three consecutive games. Romualdo started the week with four hits, a home run, and three RBIs in a 6-2 win over Union College. She finished the week with three home runs, eight RBIs, and a slugging percentage of 1.214.
To this point in the season, Romualdo leads the Cavaliers with a .436 batting average; she is tied for the team in lead in home runs with three while also sharing the team lead with 13 RBIs. Romualdo and her teammates are currently 4-8 on the season, UVa-Wise will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Milligan College for a double header.
