Lady Cavaliers ready for All "A" softball tournament

JENKINS Ky. (WYMT) - The All 'A' state softball tournament gets under way Saturday morning in Owensboro with the pool play round.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers find themselves in a tough pool. They will have to play number 12 Holy Cross, Edmonson County, who is receiving votes in the top 25, and Whitfield Academy out of region six. So coach April Charles knows her team will have to bring their a-game.

"I think we're in a pretty tough bracket. We've got Louisville Holy Cross; they are ranked 12th in the state, and I think that they're going to have great pitching and that we're going to have to do something offensively to be successful over them", said Charles.

"The other two schools, they play in tough regions, so they're no slackers down there, so we're really going to have to come and play ball in order to be successful."
