FRANKFORT, Ky. (WYMT) -- The University of the Cumberlands women’s basketball team lost in the first round of the NAIA Division I tournament, 74-61, to Baker University Wednesday morning.
The Lady Pats tipped the game off at 8:30 a.m. – by far the earliest game they had all season.
"We knew the 8:30 start was going to be an advantage hopefully for us with the time difference for them and everything we were hoping to get the good fresh start to get out and get a lead at least and I thought we did a great job early on,” UC head coach Melissa Irvin said. “Baker kind of woke up halfway through the game and our shots just didn't fall. Second half I thought we got some good looks and they just didn't fall, but we felt very confident coming in and I think that we came in to win. It's just one of those situations where the second half just didn't go our way.”
Cumberlands finished the season with a 19-11 record.
