Lady Bulldogs Collect 69-53 AAC Win

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Senior guard Kara Pile collected another pair of milestones Wednesday as Union defeated visiting Milligan (Tenn.) 69-53 in Appalachian Athletic Conference play.

Scoring 12 points and grabbing six rebounds, Pile (Fairdale, Ky.) moved into 10th place on the Lady Bulldogs' all-time scoring list and became the 14th player to amass 400 career rebounds. To date, she has 1,163 points and 404 rebounds in her career and is the 11th player in program history to amass 1,000 points and 400 rebounds.

Union led from wire-to-wire as Milligan could not cut the margin any closer two points, and that came early in the game when the Lady Bulldogs held a 6-4 advantage with 16:04 to go in the first half.
Lindsey Waters (Stearns, Ky.) notched her 16th double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Laura Perkins (Myra, Ky.) helped out with 12 points, going 6-for-9 from the floor including a perfect 2-for-2 from long range. Courtney (Glasgow, Ky.) had only two points but grabbed a team-best 11 rebounds.

Union led by as much as 11 in the opening period as it took a 34-26 cushion into the half. Milligan cut the deficit to 48-43 following a Chelsey Weddle 3-pointer with 9:37 remaining. Union responded with a 17-5 surge to open up a 65-48 lead with 3:22 to play.
From there, the teams traded points as the Lady Bulldogs registered the 69-53 victory.

Alisha Mainer paced the Buffaloes with 15 points, while Jamiee Hill knocked in 10.

Union finished the game making 39.4 percent (26-of-66 shots) from the floor and 6-of-25 (24 percent) from 3-point range. Milligan went 21-of-60 (35 percent) from the field and 4-of-18 (22.2 percent) from behind the arc. Union won the battle on the boards, outrebounding Milligan 46-36.

Union returns to action Saturday when it plays host to Columbia (S.C.) in another AAC contest. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
