HARROGATE, TN -- The Lady Railsplitters basketball team improved to 2-1 in the early portion of the season as they stormed past the Lady Valkyries of Converse College by a score of 92-59 on Saturday evening.
Dayshalee Salaman led the charge for Lincoln Memorial as she scored a game high 19 points to go along with five assists. Amberly O'Dell notched 18 points on 5-8 shooting from the three-point arc. Lauren Cochran and Ralissa Nelson performed effectively with 13 and 11 points respectively. MaRanda Boddie and Ralissa Nelson each led the team with 11 boards on the night.
The Lady Valkyries were led by Ashley Long's 16 points. Kayla Garrett added 13 points as the only other double digit performer for Converse College. Samira Gillcrese grabbed ten boards for the Lady Valkyries.
Converse College grabbed the lead early as they held a 12-9 advantage with 15:32 remaining in the half. A layup by Lauren Cochran with 13:51 remaining gave the Lady Railsplitters the lead, which they never relinquished. LMU began to pull away in the closing moments of the first half as they commanded a 38-28 lead with a little over two minutes remaining. Converse cut the deficit slightly as Lincoln Memorial took a 41-32 lead into the second half.
A 13-0 run to open the second half effectively gave the Lady Railsplitters control of the game. With 4:15 remaining in the game, two free throws by Kelsey Bradford provided LMU with a insurmountable 83-52 lead. They would close the game with a 33-point victory over the Lady Valkyries.The Lady Railsplitters won 92-59.
The Lady Railsplitters will hit the court again on November 22nd as they travel to Charlotte, North Carolina to take on Queens University of Charlotte. That game is scheduled to tip at 5:30 p.m.
