Lady Railsplitters Welcome Jasmine Kelly For 2012-13 Campaign

HARROGATE, TN -- Jasmine Kelly has signed on to join the Lincoln Memorial University women's basketball team, Lady Railsplitters' head coach Roger Hodge announced Tuesday afternoon. With Kelly onboard, the Lady Railsplitters bring the recruiting total to seven as the additions of Elliotte Roberts, Haley Nelson, Britney Guy, Kortnay Cox, Stevie Yazzie and Kalasia Green were announced in the previous weeks.

Jasmine Kelly will be heading to Lincoln Memorial University boasting a strong resume following her successful prep career at Nova High School in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. A 5'6" point guard, Kelly filled out the stat sheet as she averaged 9.8 points, 7.5 assists and 3.7 steals per game. She was a co-captain at Nova High School during the 2011-12 season.

Her individual accomplishments were numerous as she was named 2012 BCAA Big 8 All-Tournament Team, 2012 BCAA All-Star Team, Second Team All-Miami Herald in 2011 and 2012, 2012 All-Broward County Sun Sentinel and Max Preps Florida East All-Conference Second Team. The Miami Herald also listed her as one of the top-15 players in Broward Country.

While those are impressive honors, her individual accomplishments may only be outweighed by her team's accomplishments. While at Nova High School, she was a major part of a team that went 91-21 in her career notching a District Championship, a Regional Championship, a BCAA Big 8 Championship and made an appearance in the State Final Four.

Nova High School head coach Jason Hively spoke highly of Jasmine, stating, "Jasmine has worked extremly hard the last four years on her game and I am excited about the opportunity she has been given to be a student-athlete at Lincoln Memorial University."

"I am very happy to have a player the caliber of Jasmine Kelly join our program", stated LMU head coach Roger Hodge. "Not only is she a very talented point guard, she is also an outstanding student. Jasmine is a very good ballhandler and can shoot the three.

However, her best attribute is her court vision combined with her ability to find the open person. Her teams have had great success under Coach Jason Hively so she is a proven winner. I am confident that Jamsine Kelly will have a tremendous career at Lincoln Memorial and we are very excited about her future here."

Jasmine will be joining a Lady Railsplitters squad that recorded the first winning season for the program since the 2004-05 season. Falling only two games out of the top-three in the SAC last season, expectations and hopes are building as the Lady Railsplitters move forward into the second year of the Roger Hodge era with their sights set on the South Atlantic Conference crown and beyond.
