A trio of Lawrence County Bulldogs will share the WYMT Player of the Week award. Quarterback A.J. Cyrus racked up 175 yards on the ground and 30 through the air, fullback Ricky Goble rushed for 165 yards and 2 touchdowns and senior Blake Prince added 16 carries for 162 yards.
Bulldogs head coach Joey Cecil says all three were instrumental in Friday night's 39-33 win over Sheldon Clark.
"Well, they all carried it more than 16 times, they all had over 160 yards a piece and we needed every yard," says Cecil. "Sheldon Clark is an admirable, admirable opponent. They did a great job challenging us. They took us right down to the wire, so we needed every one of their efforts. I'm just really proud of them and really proud of our offensive line, too."
"Yeah, I'd say we were just in the zone because we were preparing really hard for this game," says Cyrus. "We really want a home playoff game because we haven't had one in three or four years, so we were just excited and pumped up and ready to go."
"We were just out there playing football," says Goble. "We were just out there, we wanted to get a home playoff game. We just went out there and left it all on the field. We didn't know how good each other was doing. We were out there just playing our hearts out."
"We didn't realize how good we were doing," says Prince. "We were just playing our hearts out. We wanted it. We wanted that game more than anything that night."
