HYDEN Ky. (WYMT) - The Leslie County Eagles are coming off of a big district win Friday night after taking care of Betsy Layne 26-19 on the road.
Now the Eagles must get ready for another tough district opponent in the Shelby Valley Wildcats. After a shootout of a game last year, the Eagles claimed a 41-34 win. Head coach Eddie Melton was in the WYMT studio Sunday and knows Valley's ground attack will present a problem for his team.
"I expect them to keep it on the ground. Be physical up front. Last year we struggled. We were fortunate enough to win last year in a close game, high scoring game. But they really dominated up front our defensive line. Their offensive line fired off the ball and was very physical with us. Those running back put up a lot of yards on the ground. We expect them to try to do the same thing this coming Friday night and that is what we have to prepare for."
