MSC releases 2013 women’s soccer preseason poll

PIKEVILLE, Ky (WYMT) - Officials from the Mid-South Conference released the 2013 MSC Women’s Soccer Preseason Coaches’ Poll on Wednesday, with the University of Pikeville projected to finish 10th.

Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team in the poll.
The Bears are coming off a 5-11 campaign in 2012, but finished without a win in MSC play at 0-9.

Defending national champion Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) took the top spot in the preseason picks, earning nine of the 10 first-place votes for 81 points.

Cumberland (Tenn.), which won the 2012 MSC Tournament, is second with 73 points and a first-place vote, while Campbellsville (Ky.) rounds out the top three with 62 points.

UPIKE opens the 2013 season at home, hosting Ohio Christian at 5 p.m. ET on Aug. 30 at the Bob Amos Soccer Complex. The Bears are led by junior MSC first-team goalkeeper Chelsea Schulte.
