MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State (1-3, 0-1) continues its Pioneer Football League schedule on Saturday when it travels to Valparaiso (0-3, 0-0) for a 2 p.m. ET contest at Brown Field.
The game will be carried live on the Eagle Sports Network, which includes WIVY-96.3 FM in Morehead, WLGC-1550 AM in Greenup and WMST-1150 AM in Mt. Sterling. Updates will also be available during and after the contest on www.MSUEagles.com.
The Eagles have dropped three straight games after opening the season with a 67-0 win over Kentucky Christian. The last two losses have come by just a combined five points.
The Crusaders have dropped 23 consecutive contests dating back to the 2009 campaign. Their last PFL victory was over Campbell on Nov. 15, 2008.
Junior quarterback Zach Lewis (102-for-159, 64.2%, 1,363 yds, 9 TD, 2 INT), senior fullback Desmond Cox (67 rush, 338 yds, 6 TD) and junior wide receiver Donte Sawyer (16 rec, 370 yds, 3 TD) have led the Morehead State offense to this point in the season.
Senior linebacker Tony Bachman has paced the Eagle defense with 36 tackles this year, while freshman Zachary Senvisky owns a team-best three interceptions for 46 yards.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Eric Hoffman (51-for-85, 60.0%, 551 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT), freshman running back Gabe Ali-El (19 rush, 65 yds, 0 TD) and freshman wide receiver Tanner Kuramata (9 rec, 78 yds, 0 TD) have led the Valparaiso offense to this point in the campaign.
Sophomore outside linebacker Pat Derbak has paced the Crusader defense with 23 tackles this year, while senior strong safety Laurence Treadaway owns 21 stops.
MSU posted a 37-15 win over Valpo in 2010. Lewis turned in a 29-of-41 performance for 317 yards in that meeting, while Cox ran for 128 yards and two touchdowns on 19 attempts. The Eagles also own a 13-3 advantage in the all-time series.
Morehead State continues PFL action next Saturday, Oct. 8, when it hosts Drake at 1 p.m. ET. It will be the third of five games at Jayne Stadium this season.
