BAXTER, Ky. (WYMT) - It is now time to announce the WYMT Player of the Week for week one of the high school football season.
Harlan County running back Jake Middleton had a monster game last week against Tates Creek. Middleton carried the ball 44 times for 354 yards, while scoring six touchdowns in the Black Bears' 65-54 win. Middleton says having blockers like the ones at Harlan County makes his job as a runner a lot easier.
"We ran the ball a lot as you can see, and our line did a really good job. They're in really good shape to keep going every play, and drive. They're very quick and aggressive. Blocking backs, we have Tucker Lewis and Carson Whitehead back there blocking. It's probably the biggest and quickest blocking backfield we've had, and in the mountains. It's a pretty good combination, and I couldn't ask for anything better."
