HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) -- For the second time this season, Ariel Nickell of Alice Lloyd College grabbed the KIAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Alice Lloyd College senior Ariel Nickell was named the KIAC women’s basketball player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, January 20th. This is her second player of the week award of the season.
Alice Lloyd finished the week 3-0 after earning three conference wins last week. They defeated Berea College 99-63, St. Louis College of Pharmacy 95-33 and IU Southeast 68-65. In the three wins, Nickell averaged 28 points and 13.7 rebounds. She connected on 63.6 percent (35-of-55) of her field goal attempts. The senior forward scored 36 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the win against Berea. She had 20 points and 15 rebounds against St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Nickell ended the week with 28 points, 13 rebounds and 2 blocks in the win against IU Southeast. She ranks 1st in NAIA Division II in points per game (26.18) and rebounds per game (13.65).
The Eagles are currently 11-6 overall and 6-2 in conference play. They will return to action on January 21st when they travel to Asbury University.
