PIKEVILLE, Ky. – No. 12 Campbellsville University hit nearly half of its 17 three-point shots to roll to a 92-52 win over the University of Pikeville Thursday night at the East Kentucky Expo Center.
The Lady Tigers improved to 11-6 overall and 2-2 in the Mid-South Conference thanks to 8-of-17 shooting from the arc. The 47.1 percent shooting from deep was the same as their overall percentage.
Pikeville, meanwhile, managed to make only 1-of-10 from the arc and was only 7-of-19 (36.8 percent) from the free throw line.
Campbellsville broke open a 38-27 halftime lead by scoring 54 second-half points. In the last 20 minutes, the Lady Tigers shot 57.6 percent overall and was a sizzling 5-of-7 from the three-point stripe.
Junior Mackenzie Lee led Campbellsville with 27 points and eight rebounds. She was 10-of-15 overall and 3-of-5 from the arc in the win, adding three of her club’s 14 steals.
She was joined in double figures by Courtney Clifton with 13. The junior added six rebounds.
They were the only Lady Tigers in double figures as all 13 players in uniform scored.
UPIKE (4-12, 0-5) was led by sophomore Kayla Stamper and freshman Christin Haney with 11 points each. They both had six rebounds and Haney added three of her team’s eight assists.
Sophomore Brogan Conley tossed in 10.
The teams will be back in action on Saturday afternoon. Pikeville will host St. Catharine College at the Expo Center, while Campbellsville visits U.Va.-Wise.
Both games are scheduled for 2 p.m. opening tips.
