PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - We were able to visit with the Pikeville Panthers Thursday as part of our football interviews. After losing several key pieces to last season's class a state semifinal team, the Panthers will be forced to rely on a number of fresh, new faces in 2012. Head coach Chris McNamee says his team is no different than any other, they are just looking to get better through the season to prepare for the playoffs.
"And I think that's the goal of every high school team in the state is they want to be ready come playoff time and district time, and that's what we're hoping for," says McNamee. "We schedule good teams like Harlan, Raceland, Sheldon Clark, Belfry, Swain County, those kind of teams that are going to test us, give us a good test early, and get us ready for district play and playoff."
