WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - This weekend, University of the Cumberlands (UC) baseball team will open up Mid-South Conference (MSC) play when they host rival Campbellsville University on Friday, February 22nd and Saturday, February 23rd in a three game series.
On Friday, the Patriots will hold their 3rd annual Military Appreciation Day to show their support and to honor all current and former members of the Armed Forces. The game is set to begin at 1:00 pm with special guest Colonel Steve Sears throwing out the first pitch.
“It’s important to honor the men and women of the armed forces at our baseball game because they risk their lives to protect our freedoms,” said junior infielder Jared Martin (Cynthiana, KY). “Sometimes people take it for granted, but honoring them reminds us of how courageous and humbling they are.”
Throughout the game, all members of the Armed Forces in attendance will be honored for their contributions and service to the United States of America. All military personnel at the game will also receive a ticket for a free meal from the concession stand.
“I’m joining the army to serve my country, get the best possible training for the skill I’m doing, and to provide a sound and secure life for my future wife and children,” said senior catcher John Doolittle (Sharpsburg, GA). “Being able to honor America’s troops at our baseball game is a great way for us to show our support and provide them some time of relief as they watch the game.”
Cumberlands enters the game sitting at 5-4 on the season looking to get off to a hot start in MSC play. Your presence at this game will show your support for the Patriots on the field and our nation’s Patriots who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedoms.
