Patriot basketball falls to Lindsey and Campbellsville at home

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Basketball program looked to bounce back this week after two tough losses on the road the week prior. With another tough week of games on their schedule, the Patriots knew they had to win to continue to regain their position atop the Mid-South Conference (MSC).

On Thursday, the Patriots looked to come off their two game skid, but it would be a tough matchup as UC would host #3 Lindsey Wilson College. The Patriots looked better in this game from the floor, but 11 for 25 shooting from the field would have the Patriots down 48-31 at the break. Consistent play by Lindsey Wilson shooting a blistering 67% from the field gave the Blue Raiders a 78-70 victory over the Patriots. The Patriots were led by James Archie (Jackson, MS) with 21 points and 3 rebounds. Benito Santiago, Jr. (Coamo, Puerto Rico) added 20 points and 3 steals on the night. Steve Goins (Chicago, IL) also pitched in 16 points and 9 rebounds.

On Saturday, the Patriots hosted the Campbellsville Tigers. It was not the night the Patriots wanted as UC was held to just 34% from the field and just under 17% from beyond the arc as the Tigers defeated the Patriots 69-53. Steve Goins led the Patriots on the night with 12 points and 5 rebounds while Benito Santiago Jr. chipped in with 10 points and 7 rebounds.

The Patriots will be back in action on Thursday at home in the O. Wayne Rollins Center as they host University of Rio Grande at 8:00 pm. They will then follow up on Saturday with another meeting against Shawnee State University at home at 4:00 pm for Senior Day.
